The unique manufacturing techniques of Arita have been a profound source of inspiration for French designer Pauline Deltour. By using the traditional Japanese footed base (kōdai) as a design motif, she created a series with a distinct and memorable presence.
For her collection, Deltour studied the typology of cups and plates used in everyday life across both Asian and European cultures, seeking the perfect balance between form, proportion, volume, and functionality.
The glaze colors—inspired by traditional Japanese porcelain hues such as deep navy, brick red, and celadon—are reinterpreted through her modern sensibility, resulting in a collection that harmoniously blends heritage and contemporary design.
